BetterUp is not shutting down. The plan you bought is.
BetterUp is winding down BetterUp for Individuals. New sign-ups closed on 1 February 2026. The last renewal date was 31 July 2026. The product ends on 31 January 2027.
You keep your assessments, your reports and your saved resources. You lose the ability to book a session, use the AI coach and message your coach.
BetterUp itself continues. It now sells to organizations, and its site asks you to request a demo.

If you want coaching, hire a coach.
For most people reading this, that is the answer.
You had a person who learned your situation and pushed back on it. Software does not do that. Look for another person first.
Ask for an ICF credential and check it. An ACC holds 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching. A PCC holds 125 and 500. An MCC holds 200 and 2,500. The ICF runs a public directory, so you can verify a name before you pay.

Page one answers an HR team with a budget. You are one person with a card.
Each site checked on 8 September 2026 for an individual purchase path and a published price. Quoted labels are the calls to action on their own pages. This is a check of who can buy, not a test or a ranking of the coaching.

The messaging goes first, and messaging is where follow-through lived.
GameTape does one thing. It observes your working day on your Mac and hands it back the next morning as a review.
On 31 January you lose the message thread with your coach. That thread was the part between sessions.
Marshall Goldsmith and Howard Morgan measured 86,000 survey responses from 11,480 managers at eight companies. The leaders who talked about their goals with colleagues and then followed up improved. The leaders who skipped that step showed gains close to chance.

What BetterUp did better.
Three things, and only one of them has a replacement on this page.
A person. BetterUp matched you with a credentialed coach who learned your situation and pushed back on it. That is the thing to replace first, and the ICF directory is where to start.
An assessment with a population behind it. BetterUp scored you against a benchmark. GameTape measures you against your own record and nothing else.
A booked hour that made you show up. A calendar invite does work that a daily email does not. If the standing appointment was what kept you honest, book one with your next coach on day one.
Save the work while you still can.
Access closes on 31 January 2027, and the export is your job.
Save the reports. Download your assessments as files you own, not links you visit.
Export the threads. Copy the messages with your coach. They hold more than the reports do.
Find the person. Search the ICF directory and verify the credential before you pay.
Cover the gap. Start a daily review of your own work while the search runs.
Export or copy your message threads with your coach. The original threads are often more useful day to day than a formal data export.
