Hilda Design LLC ("GameTape," "we," "us," or "our") operates the GameTape service at gametape.gg. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our macOS application and web dashboard.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (when signing in with Google). We also store your timezone and working schedule preferences.
During onboarding, you provide your professional vision, goals, projects, and working schedule. This information is used to personalize your coaching experience.
When the macOS application is running during your configured work hours, it reads your active window through the macOS accessibility layer — the same interface assistive technologies such as screen readers use — at regular intervals. This reading is classified entirely on your device by deterministic software; no AI model and no network request are involved in that step. Only the resulting text-based activity classification is sent to our servers.
A small number of interfaces cannot be read through accessibility. For those, and only those, the application captures a single screenshot and sends it to Google Gemini, our AI provider, which returns a written description of what is on screen. The screenshot is then deleted from your device. Screenshots are never sent to, or stored on, GameTape's servers.
Before any data leaves your device, it is passed through a redaction step that removes passwords, credit-card and account numbers, government identifiers, phone numbers, API keys, private keys, and recovery phrases. Password fields are never read at all. Web addresses are stripped of query strings and fragments.
The following surfaces are never captured: password managers, banking, brokerage and cryptocurrency applications and websites, health and tax websites, personal messaging applications (including iMessage, Signal, WhatsApp and Telegram), and any private or incognito browser window. Nothing is captured while your screen is locked, outside your configured working hours, or while you have paused the application. Only the browser tab you are actively viewing is read.

If you choose to record a meeting, the macOS application records two audio tracks — your microphone and the meeting's audio — and uploads them to our servers. We then send that audio to AssemblyAI, our transcription provider, to convert it to text. Transcription does not happen on your device. We store the resulting transcript, speaker labels, and the names and email addresses of participants where available. The audio recording is deleted from your device once it has been transcribed, and GameTape does not retain the audio after transcription.
This is the only circumstance in which audio leaves your device, and it happens only for meetings you explicitly choose to record. Recording conversations may require the consent of the other participants in your jurisdiction — see our Terms of Service.
We generate daily debriefs, weekly syntheses, and behavioral pattern insights from your activity data. These are stored to provide continuity in your coaching experience.
Payment information is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never your payment card details.
Your activity is classified on your own device, by deterministic software, without any AI model. AI is used in three places: Google Gemini describes the screenshots taken from surfaces that accessibility cannot read; Google Gemini turns your text activity summaries into coaching debriefs on our servers; and AssemblyAI transcribes any meeting you choose to record.
These providers process your data solely to deliver the service, under agreements that bar them from retaining it or using it to train their models. We never sell your data, and we never use it to train advertising or third-party models. Screenshots reach Google Gemini only, never our servers.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for third-party marketing purposes. Your data is not used to train AI models or shared with external services for their own independent use. We share data only with:

We engage a small number of service providers to help operate the service. They are bound by confidentiality agreements and may only use your data for the purpose of providing services to us on your behalf:
We retain your data while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all data is removed within 30 days.
Screenshots never reach our servers. They are taken only from surfaces accessibility cannot read, sent to Google Gemini to be described, and then deleted from your device. Meeting audio is deleted from your device once transcribed and is not retained by us after transcription; the resulting transcript is retained until you delete your account.
You have complete control over your data:
To delete your account and all associated data, email our support team at hello@gametape.gg. We remove all associated data from our servers within 30 days of your request.
You can stop data collection at any time, without deleting your account, by pausing observation from the macOS menu bar.
We protect your data using industry-standard security measures. All traffic is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS) with strict transport security. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth — we never store a password for you. Every request is scoped to your account, and personal data is filtered out of our logs.
Your activity is classified on your own device, and no picture of your screen is ever transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. You can read a plain-English explanation of how this works on our Security page.
GameTape is not intended for use by children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 years of age.
We will notify you of any material changes to this Privacy Policy through email and updates on our website. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
