Founder coaching ends at the session.
The tape doesn't.

A founder coach is a handful of hours a month. GameTape observes the other 160 and hands each day back the next morning, reviewed, with one correction to run.

You find out the price on a call.

CEO Coaching International names 2,000 CEOs coached and 107 client exits worth over $26.6 billion. Dave Bailey names a 500-framework library and engagements that run two and a half years. Neither names a rate. Both send you to a call to find out.

So the one public number belongs to a founder, not a coach. On r/startups, a pre-revenue team said so: the fees were 78% of their expenses that year. The figure was $14,000.

Your coach hears the week
you can remember.

You have a coach. They meet you for an hour. They hear the version of the week you can remember and choose to tell.

Carole Robin taught interpersonal dynamics at Stanford for two decades. Her frame: any exchange holds three realities. Your intent, your behaviour, and the effect that behaviour has on the other person. A founder walks into a session holding the first one and reconstructing the other two from memory.

Matt Mochary coaches Naval Ravikant and the chief executives of Notion, OpenAI, Coinbase and Reddit. His line on fear is that it argues from a prediction that does not arrive. A coach can hear the fear in the room. What reaches the session is whatever you remember to bring to it.

Game film, for the working day.

It observes. GameTape observes your working day on your Mac. Meetings, work product, the hours themselves.

It holds the tape. Decisions, commitments, the meeting where the same item came round again.

It coaches. Each morning you get one correction to run that day. Two minutes to read.

Your coach catches up. Your coach opens the session already knowing the month.

Who founder coaching fits.

GameTape suits a founder who runs a lot of meetings and makes decisions they later forget making. First-time founders, co-founder tension, the stretch where building turns into leading.

The tape belongs to the person on it. There is no board view and no co-founder view, because there is no second seat to give one.

Preston Silverman and Arun Agrahri build GameTape, and they built it for the problem they had. More about us →

Where a human coach still wins.

Plenty. If you can afford one, hire one.

A coach has run the company you are running and can name which part breaks first. A coach reads the politics you sit too close to see. A coach has the standing to make a hard conversation happen. That is judgment, and the fees buy it.

What the fees do not buy is the working month around the session. Your coach knows the version you remember to tell them, four weeks after it happened.

GameTape covers that stretch. It observes every working day and the coaching lands the next morning. Run both and your coach opens on judgment instead of recap.

Straight answers.

Nobody publishes one. CEO Coaching International and Dave Bailey both name their results and route you to a call for the price. Published rates run $150 to $300 an hour for a new coach and $300 to $600 for an experienced one. Coaches who work only with chief executives charge $500 to $3,000. The honest answer is that you find out on the call.

An engagement runs months, not weeks. Dave Bailey publishes an average of two and a half years across his practice. Sessions run monthly or every two weeks. The hours you get are a handful each month against the 160 working ones.

That is the question the r/startups thread asked, and 68 people answered it. The poster had no regrets at $14,000 and 78% of expenses. Worth depends on the problem. Coaching earns the money on judgment, on a hard conversation rehearsed, on someone who tells you the truth. It struggles when the gap is follow-through, because that happens on the days between sessions.

Founder coach and CEO coach describe the same work at different stages. Founder coaching leans early: first-time founders, co-founder tension, the shift from building to leading. CEO coaching leans later, toward the board, the executive team and the scale problems. The practices that rank for one sell the other.

No. A coach brings judgment, lived experience and the standing to hold you to something. GameTape covers the working days between sessions, which is where follow-through lives. Run both and your coach arrives having already read the month.
